Kasimu Taylor, trumpeter from St. Louis, Missouri, has played across the U.S. with various bands and covering varied styles of music.

Join us for a masterclass on jazz improvisation lead by Kranzberg Arts Foundation Resident Artist and Webster University Alum trumpeter Kasimu Taylor! This will be an intro to improv clinic, topics covered include building ideas, reading chord progressions, chord scale relation, and active listening in a band setting.
Kasimu Taylor, veteran trumpet player and bandleader, in the tradition of Clark Terry and Miles Davis, comes out of St. Louis’ deep rooted trumpet heritage. He’s a frequent performer in St. Louis and the surrounding region, playing regularly in Grand Center - St. Louis with a monthly residency at the Dark Room at The Grandel.

Recorded at two historic venues — Los Angeles’ Capitol Studios and Nashville’s Blackbird Studios — “Christmas After Midnight” pays homage to singers such as Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, reports Billboard. The album’s mix of rock, soul, jazz, funk and blues reinterprets 12 tracks, including “This Christmas,” “The Christmas Song,” James Brown’s “Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto,” “Merry Christmas, Baby” and “Hallelujah.” Cee Lo Green teams up with the North Carolina native on the playful single “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” The album was produced by Ron Fair (Christina Aguilera, The Black Eyed Peas).
