Kasimu has been doing some Miles shows recently and has been fantastic. That is very treacherous ground to walk on! But with Miles' own family there and with the show being a benefit to raise money for the House of Miles in East St. Louis, Kasimu put on a show at BB's, Jazz, Blues and Soups that was absolutely great. Playing Miles isn't easy. Nobody is going to sound just like Miles and to try would be a mistake. Kasimu plays Kasimu as he belts out the tunes that Miles wrote and made famous with his infinitely great style. We are very lucky to have a player like Kasimu in our region playing the greatness of Miles plus featuring a bevvy of original material and other well known and well loved standards. The stage belongs to Kasimu and on this night with a heavyweight singer and an all-star band the one thing we can tell you is that this night is going to be hot and cool!
POET: Acclaimed writer and author Sylvester Brown Jr. will read some excerpts from his latest book "When We Listen ". Books will be on hand for purchase and signing!
